The IrisGateway is a powerful and flexible multiprotocol communication gateway for Ethernet and RS-485 networks. The gateway allows protocols to be translated and data to be transferred between Ethernet networks, Ethernet and RS-485 networks, or between two RS-485 networks.

The gateway includes dual-port RJ-45 Ethernet ports with embedded switch for traditional star, daisy-chain, and redundant ring topologies. The gateway also features two independent, galvanically isolated RS-485 ports with pluggable terminal blocks. It is housed in a rugged aluminum enclosure with integrated DIN-rail mounting and can be powered from 7-30 VDC via a pluggable terminal block.

The front panel of the gateway includes LED indicators for Module Status, Network Status, RS-485 transmit and receive, and redundant Ethernet link/activity and speed indicators (mirroring the integrated link/activity and speed indicators on the RJ-45 ports). A USB-C port is also included on the front panel for local configuration, diagnostics, and updates (remote configuration, diagnostics, and updates are also supported via Ethernet). The gateway can be powered solely via its USB-C port connected to a PC to ease setup and commissioning.

The IrisGateway is field configurable and upgradable. Configuration is performed by an OEM or integrator via USB or Ethernet using the Windows-based ICC Configuration Studio. The Ethernet and RS-485 ports can be configured for multiple protocols which can be selected, enabled, or disabled by an end-user via the device's embedded webpage. PLC-style logical, arithmetic and filtering data manipulation operations, called Database Logic, allow the construction of complex autonomous data conditioning and control functions. Configurable network timeout action can also be programmed to allow each database address its own unique "fail-safe" condition in the event of a network interruption. In addition, persistent user parameters located in the device's internal database are available for calibration data, serial numbers, device IDs, etc. that persist across reboots and power cycles.

To help streamline user installation and support OEM applications, the configuration of the IrisGateway can optionally be split into two parts, one performed by the OEM or integrator, and the other by the end-user or installer. The OEM/integrator uses the ICC Configuration Studio to create a configuration for the gateway consisting of protocol objects mapped into the gateway’s internal database for each protocol the OEM/integrator would like to support. Run-time protocols and network parameters can be set directly by an end user via the gateway's embedded webpage. The webpage requires no special software, only a standard web browser. It provides configuration of all applicable network settings, device settings, user settings, managing device updates, and shows current run-time information. The web page can also be self-branded and customized by OEMs to provide a cohesive product appearance to their customers. On-site Ethernet discovery and configuration of Ethernet settings can be performed by an end user using the Windows-based Device Discovery Tool.

The IrisGateway comes with lifetime free firmware updates including any new protocol drivers developed in the future. And of course all ICC hardware products include free unlimited technical support.
